Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, from noon until 4 p.m. at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish. A Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish.
He died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the VA Medical Center at Fort Meade.
Roger J. Damberger was born Feb. 26, 1948, at Dupree, the son of Joseph P. and Kathryn L. (O'Donnell) Damberger. As a child he lived in Selfridge, N.D., Linton, N.D., and Fairmont, N.D., where he graduated from high school in 1965. He also attended school in Waphton, N.D., and Black Hills State College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970 serving in Korea. He lived in Spearfish and worked as a dry wall contractor until January 2000 when his poor health forced him to retire.
Roger enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, reading and doing cross word puzzles. He loved to spoil his grandchildren. He had a sparkle in his eye and a sense of humor, and he always kept his door open to anyone.
He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Damberger of Spearfish; two sons, Michael and Joseph Damberger of Spearfish and a lifelong friend and companion, Nancy Tallent of Spearfish; three brothers, Donald and Robert Damberger of Minneapolis and Myron Damberger of Annadale,
Minn.; three sisters, Marlys Leinen, Apple Valley, Minn., Mary Lou Campbell, Fargo, N.D., and Colleen Pool of Gillette, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Ashley Damberger, Mikayla Damberger and Eric Netterrberg.
He was preceded in death by his father.
