Sturgis cheer and dance honored

STURGIS — The Sturgis cheer and dance team seniors were honored during a break at the Sturgis Invite Spirit competition on Monday at the West gym. 

Five senior athletes was presented a poster including action photos of events they had competed in this season. 

Kaylee Eixenberger, along with her parents, Jason and Wendi Eixenberger, were recognized at senior night.  Eixenberger said her future plans are to attend Gillette college and pursue a degree in elementary education.

Justin Engel and Christina O’Driscoll, are the parents of Destinee Igou, and her future plans are to attend Black Hills State University to pursue a degree in pediatric nursing. 

Joining the Air Force is the future plans of Kloee Stalder, along with her parents, Tammie & Cody Stalder, were recognized for her involvement in competitive cheer and dance. 

Tennley Werlinger, with her parents, Janelle and Dave, Tony and Christa, competes in both dance and cheer, said her future plans are to become a dance coach. 

Alivia Overvold, was not able to attend, but commented that she plans to major in music or becoming a personal trainer for fitness.

The cheer and dance teams are back in action at the Douglas Invite on October 12, the conference meet in Belle Fourche on Oct. 17, and the state competition on Oct. 26, in Aberdeen.
