SPEARFISH — The Badlands Big Sticks prevented a three-game sweep by the Spearfish Sasquatch by defeating the Sasquatch 13-8 Sunday, in Spearfish.
Spearfish had won 12-11 on Friday and 6-5 on Saturday.
“That’s a really good team (Badlands) and they showed how offensive they are. They had some man hits and we had some boy hits and they had the timing which we didn’t have. They had nine or 10 free passes from our pitching staff, and you are never going to win like that,” said Adam Core, the Sasquatch head coach.
In the bottom of the first inning Josue Rangel walked, Jaxon Rosencranz singled, and Z Westley walked to load the bases.
Joe Yorke walked, scoring Rangel, to give the Sasquatch a 1-0 lead. Brennen Bales reached on a fielders choice, scoring Rosencranz, and Westley would score on a single by Beaux Escobar to give Spearfish a 3-0 lead after one inning.
Badlands came back to post four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-3 lead.
The Big Sticks added two runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 8-3.
