Grubb sisters compete at National Little Britches Rodeo

GUTHRIE, Okla. — Spearfish riders Brylee Grubb and Tiersyn Grubb competed at the National Little Britches Rodeo held July 2-7 in Guthrie, Okla. 

Brylee collected 1,992 standings points for top honors in the Junior Girls’ All-Around Division. Her efforts included top-five average finishes in three events.

She placed second in barrel racing average (39.426 total seconds on three go-rounds), second in trail course average (68.228 total seconds on three go-rounds), and fifth in breakaway roping average (12.570 total seconds on three go-rounds).

Brylee will be an eighth-grader at Spearfish Middle School this fall. Tiersyn also competed in Junior Girls’ All-Around at nationals and will begin the sixth grade there this fall.

The two combined for ninth place in team roping’s first go-round (15.928 seconds). They recorded “no times” with different partners in the second go-round.

Barrel racing: 13.299 seconds, fifth

Breakaway roping: 4.16 seconds, 15th

Goat tying: 15.995 seconds

Barrel racing: 13.062 seconds, fourth

Goat tying: 7.931 seconds, sixth

Breakaway roping: 4.48 seconds

Pole bending: 32.219 seconds

Short go-round

Barrel racing: 13.065 seconds, second place

Goat tying: 7.759 seconds, third

Trail course: 24.263 seconds, third

Breakaway roping: 3.93 seconds, fifth

Trail course: 26.182 seconds, 13th place

Pole bending: 21.251 seconds

Barrel racing: 13.692 seconds

Goat tying: no time

Second go-round

Goat tying: 9.728 seconds

Barrel racing: 18.571 seconds

Pole bending: 25.330 seconds

Trail course: 31.653 seconds
