NORTHERN HILLS — Residents in the Northern Black Hills felt their first blast of winter Wednesday and Thursday. Jeff Johnson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Rapid City said with the warm weather earlier in the week, some people were caught off-guard by the storm.  Parts of Lawrence County received nearly 10 inches of snow, but most areas received less. Johnson said the weekend will be chilly and windy but warm temperatures are expected to return next week.
