Police: No threat to Sturgis Rally

STURGIS — The Sturgis Police Department issued a statement following a message the department received from a social media follower warning of threats to the Rally.

The message indicated that there was a list of “lone wolf” homegrown terrorists plotting attacks, and that the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was their next target.

However, the police department said that their officers are working with state and federal agencies to dispel any actual threats to Rally attendees.

“At this time there is no threats and we will update you if we have something more,” department officials said in a prepared statement. “We want to encourage everyone, If you see something like this on social media, please contact your local authorities instead of sharing it. This will help us with … the origination of the post.”
