NWS predicts snow and strong winds

SPEARFISH — A fast-moving storm system is forecast to move through the region after midnight tonight through much of Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City.

Most of the region can expect snowfall amounts under an inch, however areas in the northern Black Hills may see localized heavier amounts of 6 inches or more. Heavy winds are also expected late Friday morning through the afternoon, with 60-70 mph possible in the western South Dakota plains areas.
