NEWELL — Casting for the Newell One Act Regional Competition is now complete. Cast members include Abbie Nelson, Austin Alexander, Kai Banks, Annie Miller, Caleb Mutchler, Hunter Wetz and Elizabeth Packard.
This year’s competition is a comedy by William Gleason called Louder I Can’t Hear You.
The play is about a normal family. The mother Marge, (Abbie Nelson) wins a mother of the year competition, but her family takes no notice. Her daughter Ann (Austin Alexander), her son Junior (Caleb Mutchler) and husband (Kai Banks) continue to have high expectations of her. They never listen to her. Marge feels unappreciated and distraught, so she makes an appointment with a psychiatrist to find out if there is something seriously wrong with her. (Hunter Wetz) Dr. Phillips and his nurse (Annie Miller) do not listen to her either. In the end, there is improved communication. This year’s regional competition will take place on Jan. 22 at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre.
