STURGIS — Erich Moberly is a new State Farm Insurance agent in Sturgis.

Moberly had been the account manager at State Farm Insurance in Rapid City for the past two years and now has his own office at 1612 Junction Ave., in Sturgis, in the same building as The Homeslice Group.

In his previous career, Moberly served as general manager/PGA Professional at Eagles Nest Country Club in Somerset, Ky., for 20 years.

“We had a house fire on Christmas Eve in 2016 and at that point re-evaluated our lives,” Moberly said.

The family had come to the Black Hills on vacation in the fall of 2016 and fell in love with the area, he said.

“We said that someday we’d like to retire here. But, we decided after the house fire that we were going to do something different and moved to Rapid City,” he said.

Moberly worked for State Farm Agent Bruce Kitterman in Rapid City.

“Then, I was fortunate enough to get the position here in Sturgis,” he said. “It’s been great. Everybody has been so warm and inviting.”

Moberly said he got into the insurance business because he wanted to help people.

“I’m not here to just sell them insurance. I’m here to find out what their needs are, and meet those needs,” he said.

Moberly and his wife, Tasha, have three children, Elsa, 22, Halston, 13, and Mazie, 10.
