Man arrested following protection order altercation

DEADWOOD – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Deadwood Police Department served a temporary protection order on a 44-year-old local man, Tuesday at approximately 5:30 p.m.  

Deadwood Police Chief Ken Mertens said that during the course of serving the protection order, the subject made threatening statements to harm his family members and law enforcement if they attempted to remove him from his residence.
