BOX ELDER — A Meade County man was arrested Monday after he shot a dog on his property.
That day, the Meade County Sheriff deputies responded to the area of Eagle Ranch Road for the report of gunshots. A caller to the 911 center advised he had shot a dog on his property. After investigating the incident, the caller, Richard Greenman, was arrested for allegedly violating SDCL 40-1-21, intentional kill/injure animal of another, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
In the recent past, the Meade County Sheriff’s Office has responded to 33 calls for service regarding dogs at large in this area. The Meade County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that killing or shooting another’s animal is illegal.
As of this time, the case has been turned over to the Meade County States Attorney.
