Brookings man fatally injured at Terry Peak

LEAD — A Brookings man was killed Saturday in a ski accident at Terry Peak

Linda Derosier, marketing director at Terry Peak said the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. 

Trenton Hofer, 24, hit a tree on the Gold Run, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. Life saving measures were performed at the time of a 911 call for help. 

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Gold Run is a considered a beginner trail by the ski resort but it is in the vicinity of advanced trails. It was not immediately known exactly where on Gold Run the accident occurred nor further details about the accident.

“The Terry Peak management and staff send their sincere condolences to the family and friends of this young man,” Derosier said.

Derosier said the last fatality occurred at the popular ski area in 2012.
