Double your donation to Feeding South Dakota on #GivingTuesday

SOUTH DAKOTA After three days of getting deals – Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday – #GivingTuesday is a day for giving back.

Feeding South Dakota is excited to announce that for the fifth year, the Paul and Mary Ellen Connelly Family is offering a #GivingTuesday match challenge of $20,000.

Every donation made on #GivingTuesday – Dec. 3, will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000. The Connelly family has been passionate supporters of Feeding South Dakota and challenge other supporters in South Dakota to take advantage of their matching gift to provide more food to people in need all across South Dakota.

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement driven by individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. Since its founding in 2012, millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.

In addition to #GivingTuesday, South Dakota Day of Giving returns for its illustrious second year, kicking off at midnight on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 3 and continuing until 11:59 p.m. that night. Nonprofit organizations across the state unite to celebrate generosity before the sun comes up and well after the sun goes down by asking their community of supporters to, together, raise as much money as humanly possible. Follow the conversations on social media using the hashtag #ForSouthDakota.

The reality of hunger in South Dakota is that one in every nine individuals in South Dakota is at risk of going hungry. Even more frightening is that one in every six children struggle with getting regular meals on a daily basis. Feeding South Dakota urges community members to consider giving a gift to help provide meals to the nearly 100,000 individuals across the state that look to the organization on a daily basis for food support. For every one dollar donated, Feeding South Dakota can provide three meals to individuals and families who might otherwise go without, especially during the stressful holiday season.

“Giving Tuesday is a movement to inspire generosity and importance of giving back; it’s an opportunity for Feeding South Dakota to draw attention to the hunger needs in our local communities as well as across the state,” Matt Gassen, CEO, Feeding South Dakota, said.

To give on #GivingTuesday, go to now. Through the #GivingTuesday match challenge, supported by the Paul and Mary Ellen Connelly Family, every donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000.
