LEAD — Lead’s Alco store will close sometime in the coming months along with the Kansas-based national discount retail company’s 197 other stores scattered across 23 states.

Alco Stores Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early October.

Scott Hoover, store manager of the Lead Alco, said the 113-year-old retail corporation is planning to liquidate all of its stores. He said he wasn’t yet aware when the liquidation process will begin at the Lead store, nor exactly when it will close.

“We kind of find things out about once an hour,” Hoover said. “We’re really out in the weeds as far as knowing what’s going on.”

Lead’s Alco discount retail store employs 14 people.
