SPEARFISH — The Matthews Opera House and Arts Center celebrates the kickoff of the 2018-19 Subscription Series season with a concert by New Orleans-based indie rock band, Mighty Brother, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28.

“Mighty Brother is no stranger to Spearfish,” said Sian Young, Matthews Opera House executive director. “They were our headliner band during the 2017 Festival in the Park. The band fell in love with Spearfish, and we with them. We are very excited to be working with this talented group of musicians again.”

Mighty Brother is captained by songwriters Jake Ryan and Nick Huster. The band members are Huster on vocals, auxiliary percussion, guitar, Ryan on vocals, electric guitar, and ukulele, Quinn Sternberg on bass, Jonah Devine Tarver on saxophone, and Kirk Duplantis on drums.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for youth (18 and younger) and BHSU students. Tickets are available at the art gallery during business hours, at 642-7973, or online at www.matthewsopera.com

The next event is the ArtCentral original production, “Art of My Life: A Multimedia Celebration of our Creative Souls,” at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct.13. A matinee performance follows at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14.
