DEADWOOD — Born in Deadwood and raised in Spearfish, comedian and musician Gary Mule Deer has performed on nearly every major concert stage in the country and on Jan. 31, he’ll be appearing at the Deadwood Mountain Grand for the first time ever.
Mule Deer has made over 350 television appearances including many on both “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Show.”
Clint Eastwood has called him ‘The funniest man in America’ and for good reason. Gary Mule Deer’s comedy and music have set him apart as one-of-a-kind entertainer. He is currently featured on “Jeff Foxworthy’s Comedy Classics” and “The World’s Greatest Stand-up Comedy Collection.” He is one of the most played comedians on Sirius XM’s Laugh USA.
Mule Deer appears regularly on the Grand Ole Opry. And in a career spanning over five decades, he has shared the stage with more than a hundred music legends. He has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to Royal Albert Hall, and has been part of the Johnny Mathis Show as Special Guest since 1994 in major venues across the country.
In addition to his well-known comedy, Mule Deer is a talented singer and musician, performing classic country, including the music of Johnny Cash in his show since the ‘60s. The popularity of Mule Deer’s comedy and music cuts across all ages and demographics.
“We are so happy to finally be hosting the legendary Gary Mule Deer,” said Deadwood Mountain Grand General Manager, Susan Kightlinger. “I can’t believe it’s taken us nearly 10 years to get him on our main stage, so we’re thrilled it’s finally happening.”
