SPEARFISH – A Spearfish man died in a two-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon on Interstate 90 near Exit 14.

Derek Murray Hall, 19, was westbound on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the vehicle ahead of him allegedly slowed for a construction zone. Hall attempted to avoid the vehicle and entered the eastbound lane. His motorcycle collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Tracy John Lewis, 49, of Deadwood.

Hall was wearing a helmet. He died at the scene from injuries received in the crash. Lewis was not injured.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Spearfish Police Department assisted.
